We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to join our team and own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for our Operational Data Products, translating business needs into actionable data solutions that empower operational teams across RWE's global renewable energy portfolio. This role requires a deep understanding of agile product ownership principles, strong data and analytical skills, and the ability to drive implementation.
About The Role
- Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Operational Data products, including Operational KPIs, Operating Filters, Operational Power Curves.
- Manage and prioritise the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder needs across Operations, Asset Management, and other business functions.
- Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders and your development squad, translating complex business requirements into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Drive the end-to-end delivery of data use cases from ideation and requirements gathering, through development, testing, and deployment on our Data platform (Data-bricks, Azure).
- Collaborate closely with the Data Products development teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and availability of upstream data products such as Asset Master Data (AMD), Near Real Time SCADA Data, Meter and Forecast, Price Data, Plant Maintenance, and Material Management.
- Champion a data-driven culture by enabling business counterparts to understand, interact with, and leverage data insights effectively through self-service analytics and AI-powered solutions.
- Oversee the development and continuous improvement of dashboards, Genie AI assistants, and reporting solutions that serve operational performance monitoring, reliability analysis, and energy loss tracking.
- Ensure governance and certification standards are met for all Data Assets, working with the Data Governance team on metadata completeness, data quality checks, and certification checklists.
- Coordinate with cross-functional squads both inside and outside the Data department as well as external partners to deliver high-quality, scalable data solutions.
- Track product performance through usage metrics, user feedback, and platform adoption KPIs, and iterate the product accordingly.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, complemented by relevant certifications such as Product Owner (PSPO).
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or in a similar role within a data-driven, analytics, consulting, or change management environment, with a track record of driving organisational adoption of data and analytics.
- Strong understanding of data analytics, business intelligence, KPI frameworks, operational reporting, data visualisation best practices, and modern cloud data platforms (Databricks, Azure, Power BI, Snowflake, Python).
- Ability to translate complex business needs into clear product requirements, user stories, and data analysis initiatives, turning data into actionable insights and effective solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and business teams and convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality management, metadata standards, and the ability to identify, analyse, and resolve data quality issues effectively.
- Technical proficiency in cloud and data technologies, including Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, Azure, relational and NoSQL databases, SQL, Python, and scripting for automation and metadata extraction.
- Experience working with agile methodologies and tools (Scrum, Kanban, Azure DevOps, Jira), combined with the ability to manage multiple priorities using frameworks such as RICE, MoSCoW, and impact-effort matrices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Data Architects, Data Stewards, and other stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and adoption of data governance and analytics solutions.
- Familiarity with energy industry-specific data challenges and regulations.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Experience in the renewable energy sector or with operational / industrial data is a plus.
- First practical experience with AI technologies, Generative AI, or AI-assisted analytics solutions is a plus.
- German language skills are a plus.
