Your responsibilities

Build and scale profitable physical steel trading flows, with particular emphasis on cross-border and third-country trading. Sales market focus is EMEA. We are open to candidates trading steel products, including flat products, long products, semi-finished products, or finished goods (steel derivates). More important than a specific product background is a demonstrable ability to originate repeatable, profitable international trade flows.

• Leverage in-depth commercial and technical knowledge of steel products and specifications to support profitable trading activities.
• Identify, establish, and expand sourcing opportunities and supplier relationships across global markets.
• Build, maintain, and strengthen long-term relationships with customers and suppliers on a national and international level.
• Manage the full trading cycle, including origination, pricing, negotiation, contracting, execution, receivables management, and P&L accountability.
• Develop new procurement and sales channels to drive business growth and increase market penetration.
• Collaborate effectively within a multinational environment while utilizing a strong regional and international network to expand business opportunities.
• Develop and manage a trading book to achieve agreed volume, gross margin, EBIT, working capital, and risk targets.
  
  
  

Your profile

• 8+ years of proven experience in physical steel trading with a strong track record of commercial success.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, combined with a confident and professional presence.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to drive business growth while operating within corporate governance frameworks.
• Strong risk assessment capabilities to support profitable trading decisions.
• High level of integrity and thorough understanding of compliance, sanctions, competition law, and reputational risk considerations.
• Team-oriented professional with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multinational environment; prior leadership experience is an advantage.
• Based in Germany, preferably in Essen, with excellent English language skills; German is a plus.
